This Frozen Sangria, aka Wine Slushie, is THE drink for summer! Made with dry white wine, frozen fruit, vodka, triple sec, and fresh lime juice, it’s perfectly sweet and so refreshing! Everything you love about sangria… only better!

Back in the day, I was ALL about sangria. It was a phase, I guess… but a phase that lasted a LONG time. I feel like I made every type of sangria under the sun… from Red Sangria to White Sangria to Tropical Sangria to Peach Melba Sangria… and that’s just barely scratching the surface.
I even made a few frozen sangrias and was literally obsessed with them for an entire summer. Because the only thing better than a delicious summer sangria is a delicious FROZEN sangria! And right now they’re all the rage.
This one is my latest favorite, made with dry white wine, vodka, triple sec, frozen mixed berries, frozen cherries, and fresh lime juice. It’s sweet but not too sweet and absolutely perfect for Memorial Day, 4th of July, and all summer long.
It’s easy to make… just combine the ingredients in a blender, blend until smooth, and enjoy… and best of all, I found everything I needed to make it at Metro Market! From fresh berries to frozen Private Selection mixed berries and cherries to everything I grabbed from the liquor department, Metro Market has it all.
So if you’re anything like me… always coming up with the best idea last minute… head to your nearest Metro Market or Pick ‘n Save and make it happen!

what you’ll need for this recipe
Wine – Wine is the base of any sangria recipe, and you can actually use any type of wine you’d like. I made this sangria with Sauvignon Blanc, which is a dry white wine. You could also use Pinot Grigio, Rosé, your favorite red wine, or for a sweeter sangria, Riesling or Moscato.
Frozen fruit – Fruit is another key ingredient in sangria. Since this recipe is meant to have a slushie like consistency, I used a combination of frozen mixed berries and frozen cherries. You can use any frozen fruits you’d like.
Vodka – Some type of liquor is usually added to sangria, and for this recipe I added vodka. Substitute berry vodka, citrus vodka, or a different type of spirit, such as white rum.
Triple Sec – I added Triple Sec, which is an orange liqueur, for extra flavor and sweetness. Other options for orange liqueur are Cointreau, Grand Marnier, or Orange Curacao.
Lime juice – Fresh lime juice adds a pop of tartness and citrus flavor to this recipe. Substitute fresh lime juice or fresh orange juice if you prefer.
Sugar (optional) – For a sweeter sangria, add granulated sugar to taste. You can also add honey, agave, or simple syrup.

how to make frozen sangria
Combine the ingredients in a blender. In a large high-powered blender, combine wine, vodka, triple sec, frozen fruit, and fresh lime juice.
Blend until smooth. Blend the ingredients until smooth, then taste and add sweetener as desired.
Thicken as desired. For a thicker slushie, freeze for 30 minutes – 1 hour before serving. You can also add ice and blend to thicken more quickly. (Since sangria is typically served over ice, this option works just fine!)

Recipe Variations
When it comes to sangria, the possibilities are endless! The basic formula is wine + fruit + liquor + sweetener… but the exact ingredients and amounts and flavor combinations are completely up to you.
- Use any variety of wine, including white, red, rosé, or even sparkiling
- For a sweeter sangria, use a sweeter wine
- Substitute flavored vodka for plain
- Substitute rum or brandy for vodka
- Use any combination of frozen fruits
- Add peach schnapps, raspberry liqueur, or any flavored liqueur
- Substitute lemon juice or orange juice for the fresh lime juice
- Add a splash of lemonade, limeade, or Sprite
- Make it sweeter by adding sugar, honey, agave, or simple syrup

Make Ahead Tip
This recipe is easy to make ahead for stress-free entertaining! To do so, combine the ingredients and blend as directed, then transfer to a freezer-safe container and freeze until ready to serve. Because of the alcohol content, it should still remain spoonable but will have a more icee like consistency. To serve, spoon into glasses and (optionally) top with Sprite. You can also allow the mixture to thaw slightly and then re-blend for the traditional slushie consistency.
