It’s easy to make, packed with delicious flavor, and one of the most versatile sauces ever. It’s delicious on anything from french fries to burgers to seafood to veggies. Which is why we literally ALWAYS keep a fresh batch in our fridge!
I first tried Yum Yum Sauce at a local Japanese steakhouse and instantly fell in love. I knew I needed to figure out how to make it at home… and after multiple versions and taste tests, I present you with the MOST PERFECT Yum Yum Sauce recipe ever.
The good news? Everyone’s going to love it. The bad news? It goes quickly. So maybe just start with a double batch. Trust me… you won’t regret it.
Ingredients
After trying multiple versions, these are the ingredients I ended up using in my recipe. See the “Recipe Variations” section below for substitions:
- 1 cup mayo
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1 1/2 tablespoons ketchup
- 1 tablespoon butter, melted
- 1 1/2 teaspoons rice vinegar
- 3/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 3/4 teaspoon onion powder
- 3/4 teaspoon paprika
Instructions
- Combine all ingredients in a small mixing bowl; whisk until creamy and smooth.
- Use as a dipping sauce or condiment for any of your favorites.
- Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
Recipe variations
As with any recipe, there are different variations of Yum Yum Sauce, and everyone likes to make it their own. These are some of the most common substitutions:
- Substitute tomato paste for the ketchup and add 1 tablespoon sugar
- Use apple cider or white wine vinegar in place of rice vinegar
- Add more or less water to reach desired consistency
- Adjust the seasoning amounts according to your tastes
- Make it spicy by adding cayenne pepper or sriracha sauce
