Take your mimosas to the next level with this lemon basil combo! Made with Brut champagne, orange juice, and lemon basil simple syrup, they’re a deliciously refreshing twist that’s worthy of any celebration!
Anyone who knows me knows I LOVE a mimosa. It’s the perfect celebration drink and one of my favorite ways to elevate brunch. And I especially love a fun twist! Whether it’s Orange Creamsicle Mimosas, Hawaiian Mimosas, Pineapple Upside Down Mimosas or any other flavor you can dream up, count me in.
I also love mixing up flavored simple syrups, which is probably why I’m so obsessed with this Lemon Basil Mimosa. It’s a mimosa… but more! Made with champagne, orange juice, and a delicious lemon basil simple syrup, it definitely has just a little something extra.
It’s the perfect drink for Mother’s Day, Easter, or any weekend brunch. And let’s be honest… mimosas aren’t JUST for brunch now are they??
what you’ll need for this recipe
Champagne. I used one bottle of Brut champagne. I always use Brut in mimosas because it’s the least sweet, and you’ll definitely want to use it in this recipe with the addition of simple syrup.
Orange juice. Orange juice is traditionally used in mimosas and is the juice I used in this recipe as well. Feel free to use pure orange juice or an orange/pineapple blend.
Lemon Basil Simple Syrup. Lemon Basil Simple Syrup is easy to make with water, sugar, lemon juice, and fresh basil. Feel free to adjust the sweetness level by adding more or less sugar.
Garnishes. I used an orange slice and fresh basil leaves as garnishes.
how to make lemon basil mimosas
Make the simple syrup. Make the simple syrup by combining the water and sugar in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil, then remove from heat and add the lemon juice and fresh basil. Cover with a lid and keep covered until cool.
Assemble the mimosas. Prepare the mimosas in a pitcher or by the individual glass by combining chilled champagne, chilled orange juice, and lemon basil simple syrup.
Garnish. Garnish mimosas with orange slices and fresh basil leaves.

I actually do love those plates and use them often when we’re entertaining a large group. They look nice and at the end of the party, I don’t have to wash them. I certainly understand where you are in your life. We had 5 little ones running around and preparing for a party isn’t easy with them underfoot. It gets easier, believe me 🙂 I love the lemon basil mimosa recipe. It’s a nice change from a traditional mimosa.
Sara @ Bitz & Giggles says
What a beautiful table setting, Cathy! I would love to come over and have one of those mimosas with you. There isn’t much down time when you’re a mommy. That’s the truth!

Yes, I am always looking for nice, but disposable, goods for when we have people over…I just don’t feel like I have the time or the space for so many extra dishes, these are great! And speaking of great, I could totally sip on one of these lovely mimosas right now.
Beth says
I always like to have plastic plates on hand.. that way I can easily give away the treats I make, hehe 🙂
