The BEST creamy Blue Cheese Dressing! Made with just 8 simple ingredients and ready in minutes… this dressing is guaranteed to take your salads to the next level!
Blue cheese. It’s one of those things you either love or hate… and there seems to be no in between.
I’ve personally always been a fan of it, especially on top of my favorite salads. It adds a distinct flavor that can’t really be replaced by anything else… and it’s equally delicious on sandwiches, burgers, or charcuterie boards!
Ingredients in Blue Cheese Dressing
Mayo – Mayo forms the creamy base for this dressing. I used full fat Hellman’s Mayo, but you can substitute any of your favorite brands or varieties.
Sour cream – Sour cream adds another level of creaminess and also helps tone down the straight mayo flavor. I used full fat sour cream in this recipe.
Half & half – This recipe uses half & half to thin out the dressing, while still keeping it nice and creamy. You can also substitute milk.
Crumbled blue cheese – I added 1/2 cup of crumbled blue cheese. You can substitute gorgonzola if you’d like.
Lemon juice – Lemon juice helps balance out all the creaminess of the other ingredients. I used fresh, but bottled is fine too.
Garlic powder, salt & pepper – The seasonings in this recipe are basic: just garlic powder, salt & pepper. The blue cheese does the rest!
How to make Blue Cheese Dressing
Blue Cheese Dressing is, by nature, a thicker creamy dressing. You can adjust the thickness according to your tastes by adding more or less half & half.
To make this recipe:
- Combine mayo, sour cream, 1/4 cup half & half, 1/4 cup blue cheese, lemon juice, garlic powder, salt & pepper. Mix well using a hand mixer or whisk.
- Add additional half & half, 1 tablespoon at a time, until you reach desired consistency.
- Stir in remaining blue cheese crumbles.
