What is in Chicken Pasta Salad?
Pasta – You’ll need 16 ounces of pasta for this recipe. I used small shells, but any type of pasta will work for this recipe. Good substitutions would be rotini, penne, macaroni, or ditalini.
Chicken – I used 1 rotisserie chicken, which is the equivalent of 3 cups. You can use any type of cooked, chopped or shredded chicken in this recipe.
Mayo – Mayo forms the creamy base for the dressing. I used full fat Hellman’s mayo, but you can feel free to use your favorite type. You can also substitute Miracle Whip if you prefer.
Celery – Celery adds a nice crunch to the pasta salad. I used 4 stalks, diced.
Beau Monde Seasoning – Beau Monde seasoning is a simple combination of salt, celery seed, onion powder, and pepper. It’s the perfect seasoning blend for this pasta salad. You can find the recipe below!
Lemon juice – 1 tablespoon of lemon juice adds a pop of flavor to the dressing. I used fresh squeezed, but bottled will work just fine.
Dill – Fresh dill adds another layer of flavor to the salad. Not a fan of dill? Feel free to substitute any of your favorite herbs!
How to make Chicken Pasta Salad
Cook the noodles – Prepare the noodles according to package instructions. I would suggest cooking them al dente so they will hold up better in the salad. Drain and rinse immediately with cold water to cool.
Combine the ingredients – Combine the cooled cooked noodles with the remaining ingredients and mix well in a large bowl. If time allows, let the salad rest before serving to allow the flavors to blend.
Enjoy – Enjoy as a side salad on its own, as a dip with potato chips or pretzels, or crush a few potato chips on top for a crunchy, salty twist!
