I’m not sure exactly what point in life I learned about simple syrup, but ever since then, I’ve been completely obsessed. I’ve made countless versions of it… and added some form of it to nearly every cocktail I’ve ever made. Because it’s the easiest way to add a little bit of sweetness… and a lot of flavor… to any drink!

It adds a warm, real cinnamon flavor to any of your favorite drinks… without changing the texture like ground cinnamon would do. We love adding this to old fashioneds, sangrias, and martinis… but really, the possibilities are endless!

Remove cinnamon sticks and transfer cooled simple syrup to a glass jar with a lid. Store, covered, in the refrigerator for up to 1 month.

Water – 1 cup water
Cinnamon sticks – 8 cinnamon sticks

*Adjust the sweetness of this recipe by adjusting the amount of sugar you add. For a less sweet syrup, use 1 cup water + 1/2 or 3/4 cup sugar. For a sweeter syrup, add extra sugar.

Combine water and sugar in a small saucepan; bring to a boil. Boil until sugar is completely dissolved, then remove from heat, add cinnamon sticks to the pan, cover, and set aside until cool.
