Creamy Pesto Aioli – made with 5 simple ingredients and packed with amazing flavor. The perfect sauce for burgers, sandwiches, or wraps… and one of our favorite dips for french fries and onion rings!
Not gonna lie… I’m a huge fan of aioli. There’s just something about how creamy and delicious it is… and I love the fact that there are so many different flavor possibilities.
From garlic aioli to basil aioli to the most delicious yuzu aioli on the menu at a local restaurant, I’m always up for trying new flavors. And this pesto aioli is definitely a new favorite.
Also known as pesto mayo, it tastes a lot like pesto… but with a creamier, more subtle flavor. Which makes it a delicious dip for so many things! Like grilled chicken or steak, french fries or potatoes, fried calamari, onion rings, and so much more.
what you’ll need for this recipe
Mayo – 3/4 cup mayo. I used Hellman’s Real Mayonnaise, but any kind will work.
Pesto – 1/4 cup pesto. My favorite brand is Delallo Simply Pesto. Homemade would be delicious, too!
Lemon juice – 2 Tablespoons fresh lemon juice, or more to taste. Lemon juice adds flavor and also helps to thin out the aioli if it’s too thick.
Garlic – I used 2 fresh minced cloves garlic. For less intense flavor, substitute garlic powder.
Salt – to taste. I added 1/8 teaspoon, but depending on the saltiness of your pesto, you may need more or less.
Recipe Variations
- Substitute sun dried tomato pesto for basil pesto
- Add additional seasonings, such as onion powder, dried basil, or black pepper
- Use more or less lemon juice to taste
- Add fresh minced basil
- Substitute ranch dressing for some of the mayo
storage tips
Pesto Mayo can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. Enjoy straight from the fridge or at room temperature.
