what you’ll need for this recipe
Cream cheese – I used 8 ounces softened cream cheese for the base. For best results, soften it to room temperature before combining it with any other ingredients.
Sour cream – I added 1 cup sour cream to the cream cheese. I used plain, full fat sour cream.
Taco seasoning – I seasoned the cream cheese/sour cream mixture with 2 Tablespoons taco seasoning. Use homemade or your favorite store bought variety.
Toppings – Finally, the toppings! I added chopped lettuce, tomatoes, black olives, green onions, and finely shredded Mexican cheese blend. See “recipe variations” below for additional ideas!
how to make taco dip
Make the base. In a medium mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, sour cream, and taco seasoning. Mix well (I used a hand mixer). Spread the mixture onto the bottom of a shallow dish, baking sheet, or pan.
Add the toppings. Top with chopped lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, black olives, and green onions.
Enjoy! Serve with tortilla chips or refrigerate until ready to serve.
