The BEST Wasabi Mayo… made with just 4 ingredients! This recipe comes together in no time and makes the perfect dip for all your favorite appetizers!
Let’s talk wasabi. Have you gotten on the bandwagon yet? It’s definitely an acquired taste… and I know plenty of people who swear they can’t stand it. But my question for them is HAVE YOU EVER TRIED WASABI MAYO??
Because Wasabi Mayo is different than straight up wasabi. It’s much more gentle and mild… and quite honestly… much more likable. Because the mayo tones down all that sinus-clearing heat and you’re left with just a hint of delicious wasabi flavor that’s easy to adjust according to what you can handle!
It makes a delicious dip for any of your favorite appetizers, roasted veggies, or meats… and we love using it in place of regular mayo in all our favorite sandwiches.
Whether you love wasabi and have been eating it for years or are someone who can’t even stand the idea of it… trust me when I say you’re going to LOVE this easy, creamy, flavor-packed Wasabi Mayo.
What you’ll need for this recipe
Mayo – Mayo forms the base for this dip. I used 1/2 cup of traditional Hellman’s mayo, but you can feel free to substitute a low fat or alternative variety if you prefer.
Wasabi paste – The wasabi flavor in this dip comes from 2 teaspoons of prepared wasabi paste, which is different than wasabi powder. Wasabi paste can be found in the Asian food aisle at your local grocery store, or at a specialty Asian grocery store.
Lemon juice – 1 teaspoon of lemon juice helps brighten up the flavor in this recipe. I used bottled lemon juice, but fresh squeezed would also work. You may also substitute lime juice if you have it on hand.
Ground ginger – Finally, 1/4 teaspoon of ground ginger rounds out the flavor in this dip. Ground ginger can be found with all the other spices at your local grocery store.
Small bowl – To mix the ingredients together you’ll need a small mixing bowl.
Whisk – And last but not least, you’ll need a small whisk to combine the ingredients together. You can also use a fork in place of a whisk.
How to make Wasabi Mayo
Combine the ingredients – Combine the mayo, wasabi paste, lemon juice and ginger in a bowl.
Whisk until smooth – Whisk together using a small whisk or fork until smooth and creamy.
Refrigerate until ready to use – Let stand for at least 10 minutes before using to let the flavors blend. Refrigerate for up to 1 month.
