GORP Ingredients
Pretzels – I used salted mini pretzel twists in this mix, but as you know, there are countless options. You could also use pretzel sticks, pretzel flats, flavored, or unsalted pretzels.
Cereal – Cereal adds a light, crispy texture to this trail mix. Use any of your favorites!
Yogurt covered raisins – Traditional GORP includes raisins, but since my kids like yogurt covered raisins better, I decided to swap. You could also substitute yogurt covered craisins if your kids aren’t raisin fans.
M&M’s – M&M’s are a classic addition to any trail mix. I used plain, but once again, you can substitute peanut, peanut butter, or any of your favorite kinds.
Salted nuts – I used a variety of our favorite nuts, including peanuts, cashews, and almonds. There are many different flavor options available… feel free to use any of your favorites!
How to make GORP

Why is GORP called GORP?
GORP is a term for trail mix often used by hikers. It’s typically believed to be an acronym for “Good Ol’ Raisins and Peanuts”, which are the basic ingredients in a GORP recipe. However, the Oxford English Dictionary also cites a 1913 reference to the verb gorp, which means “to eat greedily.” If you ask me, either explanation works!
