Bacon Cheddar Ranch Pinwheel appetizers are the ultimate party food! Loaded with crispy bacon, cheddar cheese, and creamy ranch dressing, these roll-ups are perfect parties, picnics, or game days!
When it comes to appetizers, we all have a few “go to” recipes. And these Bacon Cheddar Ranch Pinwheels are definitely one of mine. They’re one of my favorite things to bring to parties and get togethers… and once you try them, I’m sure you’ll see why!
They’re easy to make, easy to transport, and I love that you can make them in advance. Not to mention… everyone goes CRAZY for them.
You can’t go wrong with the bacon cheddar ranch combo – from Bacon Cheddar Ranch Chicken Salad to Bacon Cheddar Ranch Chicken Noodle Soup – it’s always a crowd favorite. And these pinwheels are no exception.
Made with just 6 simple ingredients, they come together in no time and are loved by adults and kids, alike. And… they double as a quick and easy lunch!
what you’ll need for this recipe
- Cream cheese – I used 8 ounces of plain cream cheese, softened
- Ranch dressing – I added 1/4 cup ranch dressing to the cream cheese (not seasoning mix)
- Cheese – I used 1/2 cup finely shredded cheddar cheese
- Bacon – I added 6 pieces of cooked, crumbled bacon
- Chives – I used 1 Tablespoon of minced fresh chives
- Tortillas – I used plain flour tortillas (6 small or 3 large)
how to make bacon cheddar ranch pinwheels
Combine the cream cheese & ranch. In a small mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese and ranch dressing. Mix until smooth.
Stir in remaining ingredients. Stir in the cheddar cheese, bacon, and chives.
Spread onto tortillas & roll. Spread in a generous layer over tortillas. Roll tortillas tightly and slice into 1 inch pieces.
make-ahead & storage tips
These pinwheels are perfect for making ahead! You can assemble them up to 24 hours in advance and wrap the rolled tortillas tightly in saran wrap. Then simply remove the saran wrap and cut them into pieces when you’re ready to serve them! Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
Recipe Variations
- Use your favorite flavored cream cheese (garden vegetable or chive & onion both work well)
- Add chopped chicken breast for extra protein
- Add additional veggies, such as broccoli, cauliflower, green onions, or bell peppers
- Add chopped jalapeños for a spicy twist
- Use any type of shredded cheese
- Use flavored wraps in place of regular tortillas

Hi
Quick question- Do the tortillas stay together or do you have to use a toothpick to hold them?
Thanks
Cathy Trochelman says
They should stay together with the cream cheese! (Be sure you spread it close to the edges) 🙂
Helen Ogilvie says
Do they need to be refrigerated or serve right away?
Vickie says
I refrigerate for a hour or longer , a lot easier
to cute!!
Tina says
How about overnight??
Elaine says
They do best if you wrap them tightly in plastic wrap and chill a couple hours to firm up. I gave my tortillas a quick zap in the microwave to make them more flexible for rolling. To cold or dry wil make them crack. Be sure to get filling spread completely to the edge as that is the “glue” factor.

I, too, have made these with added chicken and layered them with damp paper towels between each layer in a large plastic container in the fridge a day ahead. They were just fine. Don’t over wet the paper towels; just dampen them a little.

I have made them ahead several times and refrigerated them and they were great. I like them better when they are cooked a little in the oven. I heat them at 400 degrees for about 4 minutes per side. They are one of my daughter’s favorite appetizers.

Why are you saying flour tortillas not corn! For a diebetic shouldn’t have all that flour?
Cathy Trochelman says
Flour tortillas roll & slice better than corn, which tend to break.

You can absolutely use corn if that’s what you prefer or need to use for dietary reasons.

Cathy Trochelman says
Sorry, I should specify! I mean prepared ranch dressing.
Bob & Linda Smith says
I made these with my own little (lol) hands. That is an accomplishment in its self because I can’t cook. My wife, bless her heart does the cooking in our home. They turned out great and we will do it again. Thanks….
Sharon says
I use the dry ranch dressing. Some regular and some spicy. I’d be afraid the mixture would be too soupy if I used the bottled dressing. But then that’s me.
Debbie Carlson says
I am probably one of the few people on this planet who doesn’t care for Ranch dressing. I’m wondering if bleu cheese dressing would work as a substitute. What do you think?
Sarah says
These were delicious! My only qualm is that the serving size was set to 24. I doubled the recipe and it will definitely feed no more than 6-8 people. This is disappointing, as I’ve not made enough for my party.
Donalda says
I think that the 24 servings is 24 slices. If you have 3 8 inch wraps, and cut them 1 inch thick, you end up with 8 slices of each hence 24 servings.
Julie says
I do my have chives in hand. Any recommended substitute for an amazing taste?
