what you’ll need for this recipe
You can find everything you need for this recipe in the spice aisle… and you likely have many of these already in your pantry!
Minced onion – I used 1/4 cup of dried, minced onion (sometimes called chopped onion).
Beef bouillon – I added 2 Tablespoons of granulated beef bouillon, which is the flavor used in Lipton Onion Soup Mix. I used Herb Ox Beef Bouillon, which is gluten free, but you can use any brand you prefer. You can also substitute chicken bouillon or even vegetable bouillon to make it vegetarian.
Dried parsley – I added 1/2 teaspoon of dried parsley, which provides both flavor and color to the mix.
Onion powder – I added 1/4 teaspoon of onion powder for an extra boost of onion flavor.
Garlic powder – I also added 1/4 teaspoon of garlic powder.
Celery seed – 1/4 teaspoon of celery seed provides extra flavor and balance to the soup mix. Be careful to use celery seed, NOT celery salt.
Paprika – I added 1/4 teaspoon of paprika for red pepper flavor and color.
Salt & pepper – 1/4 teaspoon each of salt and pepper rounds out this soup mix perfectly.
