Fajitas make a healthy, delicious dinner… and homemade seasoning makes them that much better. Easy to make with just a handful of ingredients, it takes any fajitas to the next level… guaranteed!
Every family has their go-to dinners, and for us, Fajitas are one of them. They’re light and fresh and packed with delicious flavor, and they’re so incredibly easy to make.
They’re one of my FAVORITE things to order at a Mexican restaurant… and for some reason, I’ve always felt like homemade is sub-par. That is… until now! Now that I’ve perfected the seasoning, my homemade fajitas are just as good (or even better) than the ones from my favorite restaurant!
The secret? High quality spices… and just the right combination. This recipe uses a combination of chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, sugar, salt, a touch of cayenne pepper for heat. I have suggested amounts of each, but the beauty of making it yourself is that you can adjust the proportions according to your family’s tastes.

Recipe variations
As I mentioned above, the beauty of homemade seasoning is that you can make substitutions or additions according to your own individual tastes. Feel free to adjust the proportions and/or omit ingredients based on preference. And if you want to add additional spices, such as chipotle powder, coriander, oregano, black pepper, or celery salt. Some recipes also call for the addition of cornstarch, which helps thicken the fajita sauce while cooking.
Storing
Fajita Seasoning is perfect for making in bulk so you can be sure to have it on hand when you need it. Just be sure to store it in an airtight container in a cool, dry place to retain freshness. Homemade seasoning should be used within 6 months.
