Made with just 5 ingredients (ingredients you most likely have on hand) it’s an easy, delicious dip that can be used in so many different ways.
It’s essentially whipped cream cheese that’s infused with the delicious flavors of garlic and fresh herbs. I used fresh basil, but any of your favorite herbs will do the trick. You can also add multiple herbs, like rosemary, thyme, and garlic, for an extra kick of flavor.
We love using it as a dip for fresh veggies, crackers, or crostini… and it also makes a delicious spread for sandwiches, bruschetta, or any of your favorite flatbreads!
what you’ll need for this recipe
Cream cheese – Cream cheese is the base of this spread. I used 8 ounces plain cream cheese, softened.
Sour cream – Sour cream adds flavor and a deliciously smooth, spreadable texture to the dip. I used 1 cup plain sour cream.
Garlic & basil – I added minced garlic and fresh basil for flavor. Feel free to add additional fresh herbs!
Salt & pepper – 1/2 teaspoon each salt and pepper help to bring out all the other delicious flavors.

- Substitute plain Greek yogurt for the sour cream
- Use flavored sour cream
- Add any of your favorite fresh herbs, such as oregano, thyme, rosemary, or tarragon
- Add minced or grated onion
- Substitute dried herbs for fresh in a pinch
- Add additional seasonings, such as garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, or Italian seasoning
- Drizzle some olive oil over the top
