I think we’ve all been there. Getting ready to head out to yet another holiday party… knowing we’ve offered to bring something… and wondering WHAT in the world that something should be.
If you’re anything like me, you want something that feels a little different. And special. And something that will appeal to a wide variety of people. And honestly? Since I’m usually rushing around last minute? I want something I can shop for and whip up quickly.
I’m always a fan of dip recipes, and I can easily say this Shrimp Dip is my new favorite. Not only is it incredibly easy to make (just combine ingredients and mix them together) but there’s something about it that feels especially fitting for the holidays.
It’s a little bit like shrimp cocktail – especially if you opt for cocktail sauce on top – but with a creamy texture no one can resist. And since it’s a dip, it’s much easier to eat while mingling at a party. Which is clearly what parties are all about!

- 1 6 oz. can tiny shrimp, drained
- 1 tsp. worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp. lemon juice
- 1/2 tsp. tabasco sauce
- 1/4 tsp. garlic powder
- 4 green onions, chopped
Instructions:
- Combine all ingredients in a medium mixing bowl.
- Use a hand mixer to blend until creamy.
- Transfer to a serving bowl; serve with crackers, bread, veggies, or your choice of dippers.
Can I use fresh shrimp?
Yes, I definitely contemplated using fresh shrimp in this recipe. I ultimately decided against it, since tiny shrimp is just the right size and is less expensive. If you opt to use fresh cooked shrimp, simply chop into small pieces before combining it with other ingredients.
To make in advance:
This recipe is easy to make in advance. Simply prepare according to recipe instructions and store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Before serving, you may want to use a hand mixer to soften it back up a bit (however, this is not necessary).
Storing leftovers:
Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3-4 days.
Recipe variations:
- Use fresh or previously frozen shrimp (tails removed) in place of canned shrimp.
- Substitute shrimp with lump crab meat.
- Add fresh herbs, such as parsley, to the mix.
- Reserve some shrimp for garnish.
- Garnish with fresh parsley or chopped green onions.
- Serve with cocktail sauce drizzled on top.
- Serve with veggies instead of crackers for a low-carb option.
