A refreshing Paloma cocktail made with tequila, grapefruit juice, and citrus seltzer. A lightly sweet, deliciously fruity summer drink!

Paloma Cocktail - so refreshing for summer, and perfect for Cinco de Mayo!

I’m excited, you guys. I know it’s Monday, and Mondays are typically not days to be excited….but this week is different. Because this week I’m going out not once, but TWICE! I know – craziness, right?? (In case you’re wondering, no…..I don’t get out much..)

Now, I would love to say I’m going out to celebrate Cinco de Mayo…..and originally, that was the plan. In fact, the plan was to go to the place where I first discovered palomas! A little taco place called Bel Aire Cantina. But then we got to thinking….about Mexican restaurants on Cinco de Mayo….and decided that a wild scene and a 2 hour wait might be a little much for people who don’t get out much.

So we decided to celebrate Sexto de Mayo instead. Just as good…..or maybe even better, depending on how you look at it! And best of all, I fell so much in love with palomas when I first tried them there that I decided to concoct my own recipe. So on Cinco de Mayo I can enjoy a paloma at home….and on Sexto de Mayo I can enjoy one out. Pretty perfect, if you ask me.

What makes these drinks so perfect, you ask? Well, they’re the perfect blend of sweet and tart….and between the grapefruit and the lime juice, they couldn’t be more refreshing! They can be made 2 ways – with soda or with juice – but I prefer them with a combination of grapefruit juice and citrus sparkling water. Add a splash of simple syrup and a squeeze of lime juice (and tequila, of course) and they’re the perfect drink for Cinco de Mayo! Or Sexto de Mayo….or both!
