Grape Salad is a classic recipe that makes a great addition to any meal. It’s a delicious combination of red and green grapes in a sweet, creamy dressing, topped with brown sugar and pecans. The perfect side dish or dessert for holidays, picnics, or pot lucks!
There’s a certain type of “salad” that definitely raises eyebrows… as in… you call that a what!!? It’s a category I like to refer to as dessert salads, and this recipe fits right in.
The thing I enjoy most about dessert salads is that everyone seems to love them. They’re always a hit at parties or pot lucks… and for good reason. What’s not to love about a salad that tastes like dessert?! Especially one that’s SO easy to make.
This recipe comes together in minutes, is perfect for making in advance, and makes enough to feed a crowd. Which is exactly why it’s one of our favorites!

🍇 Ingredients
For this version, I used a combination of red and green grapes. Green grapes have more of a tart flavor, which helps to balance out the sweetness of this recipe. However, if you prefer a sweeter salad, you may want to use all red.
For the cream cheese and sour cream, I chose to use the full fat version of both, but you can certainly opt for a lighter variety.
- 4 c. red grapes
- 4 c. green grapes
- 8 oz. cream cheese
- 1 c. sour cream
- 1/4 c. granulated sugar
- 2 tsp. vanilla extract
- 2 Tbsp. brown sugar
- 2 Tbsp. chopped pecans
📋 Instructions
This recipe comes together in no time and can be made with just one mixing bowl. It doesn’t get easier than that! Before mixing the ingredients, be sure your grapes are washed and dried and your cream cheese is at room temperature.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, sour cream, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract.
- Mix on medium speed until smooth and creamy.
- Add grapes and mix well.
- Sprinkle brown sugar and pecans on top.
- Refrigerate 1 hour or overnight.
🥜 Recipe variations
There are plenty of quick and easy ways to change up this recipe according to your tastes. Here are some fun ideas:
- Substitute plain Greek yogurt for the sour cream
- Add chopped Snickers, Heath, or Butterfinger candy bars
- Substitute chopped walnuts or peanuts for the pecans
- Use all red or all green grapes vs. a mixture of the two
- Add 2 c. sliced strawberries
- Cut grapes in half to minimize choking hazard
- Substitute brown sugar for the granulated sugar
- Top with granola for a little extra crunch
🎯 Tips for success
- Be sure to dry the grapes completely after washing them to avoid a runny dressing.
- Bring cream cheese to room temperature before combining it with other ingredients.
- Use a hand mixer to combine the cream cheese and sour cream. This will allow you to make it smooth and creamy.
- Refrigerate the finished salad for at least 1 hour or overnight in order to let the flavors marry.
- Serve it cold.
🌡 Storing
This salad should be refrigerated for at least one hour before serving. Leftovers should be stored, covered, in the refrigerator for up to one week.
