Crispy, flavorful Homemade Crostini is easy to make with just a handful of ingredients. It’s ready in just minutes and makes the perfect base for all your favorite toppings and dips!

I recently had an experience that reminded me of the importance of sharing simple recipes like this easy homemade crostini.
I was at a family get together at my parents’ house and had brought some Whipped Ricotta and crostini to share. Everyone was LOVING the combo, at one point my brother in law asked me where I had bought the crostini. Because he had been looking everywhere for it… and good store bought crostini is hard to find!
Of course, you can find boxed or bagged crostini in some specialty stores, but it’s always extra crispy and sort of stale and nothing like the real deal. So I told him I had made it, not bought it… and that homemade crostini is the ONLY way to go.
It’s basically thinly sliced, toasted bread… but SO MUCH MORE. I jazzed mine up with a brush of olive oil, fresh herbs, and sea salt, but you could also use melted butter and cinnamon + sugar for a sweet variation.
It’s the perfect base for cheeses, meats, dips, and spreads and the perfect addition to your next charcuterie board. We also use it in recipes like French Onion Crostini, Apple Brie Crostini, Mushroom Bacon Swiss Crostini, and more!

what you’ll need for this recipe
Baguette – I used one French baguette, thinly sliced on a diagonal. While exact size isn’t important, I usually aim for 1/4 inch.
Oil – I used about 3 Tablespoons olive oil to brush on the bread slices before baking. Oil provides flavor and helps the bread to crisp up in the oven.
Salt & pepper – I combined the oil with about 1 teaspoon sea salt (substitute kosher salt) and about 1/2 teaspoon pepper. Feel free to adjust the amounts to taste.
Herbs – Finally, I added in about 1 Tablespoon of chopped fresh herbs. I used rosemary and thyme.

how to make crostini
