WHAT ARE BRUSSELS SPROUTS?
Brussels Sprouts are a member of the Gemmifera group of cabbages, grown for its edible buds. They’re leafy, green vegetables that are typically between 2.5–4.0 cm in diameter and look like miniature cabbages. Although brussels sprouts are often referred to as mini cabbages, there is one main difference: with cabbage, we eat the head that grows out of the ground. Brussels Sprouts, on the other hand, are buds that grow along the length of a thick, fibrous stalk.

Brussels Sprouts! Do you love ’em or hate ’em? Because there’s really no in between.
I’ve always loved them…even before they were on every restaurant menu and loving them was “in”. Although I have to admit – now that they are on every restaurant menu? I’m pretty excited about it.
My favorite way to eat them, hands down, is roasted. There’s just something about the flavor and the texture of roasted vegetables that’s absolutely perfect. And these roasted brussels sprouts are a new favorite.
That being said, I’ve also tried them fried (yum), in omelets (yum), and even in salads (yum)! And so far, I haven’t found a version I didn’t love.
Not only are they easy to make, and SO good for you….but they make a delicious side dish for literally any meal. Whether you’re serving chicken or beef or salmon or pork, brussels sprouts are the perfect pairing.
And this version has a delicious sweet & spicy flavor combo that’s absolutely addictive. Between the honey and the soy sauce and the garlic and red pepper flakes, I had to stop myself from eating them ALL.
I can’t wait to make them again and again…for lunch, for dinner, or for a late night snack!
