Take your favorite summer treat to the next level with Homemade Sugar Cones! These cones are easy to make, with just a handful of ingredients, and they taste amazing.
Best of all, there’s no waffle cone maker required. Which means anyone can make them!
These homemade ice cream cones can be made in the oven or on the stovetop, and they can easily be made in different sizes and decorated for different occasions. They’re the perfect EASY way to make your favorite frozen treats even better!
I partnered with Kemps to bring you this recipe. Thank you for supporting the brands that make Lemon Tree Dwelling possible!Summer is here….and along with it, swimsuit season! Which really doesn’t seem fair, considering the fact that summer was clearly made for indulging in yummy frozen treats.
I’m pretty sure my kids have begged for me to stop for ice cream every day since summer break started….and to be honest, I totally don’t blame them! Who doesn’t love a cold, creamy sweet treat on a hot summer day?
Except….swimsuit season.
So clearly….I haven’t stopped. Because we all know that if my kids are getting something, I’m getting something, too. And even though that’s exactly what I want….it’s exactly what I don’t want. You know what I mean?
Of course, we can’t go all summer long without indulging. But we can indulge better. I’ve recently fallen in LOVE with Kemps new Joyfull Scoops Frozen Yogurt, and with just 90-100 calories per serving, you can’t go wrong!
I’m always a fan of Kemps products, not just because they taste amazing, but because I love the values they stand for. Kemps is a 100% farmer family owned company, which means that all of their products come from local family farms and 100% of their profits go to dairy farmers and their families.
Kemps Joyfull Scoops Frozen Yogurt comes in 4 delicious flavors – Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, Sea Salt Caramel, Chocolate Peanut Butter, and Mint Chocolate Chip – and they’re all low calorie, low sugar, and a good source of protein. They’re available at Pick ‘n Save, and you can get $1 off now through August 3 using this coupon!
The Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough is my favorite (how can you beat two treats in one!?) but the Salted Caramel is a close second. To be honest, though, I have one of each in my freezer right now. And I plan to keep it that way all summer long!
And to make it into an extra special treat? I’m keeping a stockpile of these Homemade Sugar Cones.
Because let’s be honest….part of the fun of stopping for ice cream is the special ice cream cone. Am I right!? My kids always love waffle cones, but the last thing I’m really interested in is another kitchen gadget.
Which is why I decided to perfect the art of sugar cones, where there’s no special equipment required! Just a handful of ingredients, some parchment paper, a baking sheet, and some type of cone form for rolling….and you’re good to go.
I’ll be honest….it took me a few tries to get them right. But once you get it, there’s no going back. Not only do homemade ice cream cones taste amazing (SO much better than store bought), but they’re fun to decorate, too! I dipped mine in chocolate and covered them in sprinkles, but the possibilities are really endless.
And when you fill them with Kemps Joyfull Scoops Frozen Yogurt? I guarantee they’re going to become your new favorite way to indulge. I know they’re mine!

The simple answer is no! You can easily make homemade ice cream cones without a machine. All you need is a mixer, a baking sheet, some parchment paper, and a cone form for rolling. You can also make homemade ice cream cones in a skillet, just as you would make crepes. Simply pour 3 Tbsp. batter into a cold skillet, turn the heat to medium, cook 4-5 minutes on one side, flip, and cook the other side 1-2 minutes before rolling into a cone shape.

This is so yummy! Works well for me bc my ice cream recipe leaves me with a ton of leftover egg whites as it is. I hate to waste them, so this is perfect. I couldn’t find a good cone to shape them with around the house, so I just plop them in cereal bowls once baked to do a sugar cone bowl to eat ice cream from. I also sprinkle the top with a bit of kosher salt before baking, just because 🙂
