I sometimes feel like my kids LIVE for treats. No joke….they seem to base their lives around them. In terms of how much they eat for lunch, whether they finish their veggies, how well they behave, and, at the end of the day, how they feel about life. It may sound dramatic, but I’m actually completely serious. My kids are treat obsessed!

So it makes sense that days like holidays, birthdays, and special occasions tend to make them extra happy. And if I happen to make something sweet & delicious while they’re at school? Well, it’s pretty much guaranteed to be a great night. It’s as simple as that! In their world, treats mean happiness.

Ok. So I’d be lying if I said I can’t relate. Because I totally can! I totally remember being a kid….and waiting to find out whether we could have dessert after dinner….and if we could, what it would be. And I remember my siblings being the exact same way! And if we found out it was strawberry shortcake? Well, we all knew it was going to be a GREAT night.

There’s just something about strawberry shortcake that screams summer….and no matter how old I am, it still makes me just as happy as it did when I was a kid. The combination of fresh strawberries, delicious shortcake, and whipped cream? There’s really nothing better. And you know what? It’s JUST as delicious in a milkshake. And since June is Dairy Month, I say milkshakes all around! Don’t you agree??

This Strawberry Shortcake Milkshake combines fresh summer strawberries, vanilla ice cream, and Kemps Organic Milk, which means it’s extra fresh and extra delicious. I recently discovered that Kemps Organic is available in a half gallon size at Pick ‘n Save, our favorite grocery store. So I picked up a half gallon of whole milk, the BEST kind of milk for these Strawberry Shortcake Milkshakes, and let’s just say it made us all VERY happy. We love Kemps Organic because it’s locally sourced from nearby family owned farms, delivered fresh, and it tastes great. And as soon as you try these Strawberry Shortcake Milkshakes, you’ll see what I mean. In fact, you’ll probably have one of the best days ever! Because a delicious treat will do that…and not just when you’re a kid.

Ingredients

Milkshake

• 3 c. Kemps Vanilla Ice Cream
• 1 1/2 c. fresh sliced strawberries
• 1/2 c. Kemps Organic Milk
• 1 tsp. vanilla
• whipped cream recipe below
• 4 fresh strawberries for garnish
• 1 thick slice pound cake cut into cubes

Whipped Cream

• 3/4 c. Kemps whipping cream
• 1.5 Tbsp. sugar

Instructions

For milkshake:

1. Combine ice cream, strawberries, milk, and vanilla in a blender.
2. Blend on high speed until smooth and creamy.
3. Pour into glasses; top with whipped cream.
4. Garnish with strawberry & pound cake kabobs.

For whipped cream:

1. Combine cold heavy whipping cream and sugar in chilled bowl.
2. Beat on medium speed until soft peaks form.
3. *Reserve remaining whipped cream for future use.
