I’ve partnered with The Laughing Cow® to bring you this delicious snack idea, but all opinions are my own!
Honey Roasted Apple Dippers made with Granny Smith apples and The Laughing Cow® Creamy Original Swiss cheese. Just 4 simple ingredients and perfect for fall!
So we’re kinda going through a little something with Greta. A “misunderstanding” of sorts….and one that’s causing major problems. See, Greta thinks she wants to be an adult. Or, I should say, Greta knows she wants to be an adult. Because, in Greta’s mind, adults have WAY more fun than kids. (If only she knew!)
It all started back at the beginning of summer, when I implemented a rule that before she could play each day, she needed to take care of some things. Namely reading, math, and piano practice. Simple enough, right? Or so I thought…..
But not in Greta’s mind. See, in Greta’s mind, this rule is sheer torture. In her mind, it means she NEVER gets to have ANY fun! And in her mind, she can’t wait to just be an adult. Because adults can do whatever they want. All the time.
I’ve tried telling her that’s not entirely true….being an adult isn’t all it’s cracked up to be….but, as you can imagine, it’s been falling on deaf ears. So instead of arguing about it, or trying to get her to see that being a kid isn’t so bad after all, I’ve been trying to focus on the little things we can both enjoy. I’ve learned that snacks are always a good place to start!
Because, in Greta’s mind, half of what it means to “do whatever you want” is being able to EAT whatever you want! And what I want to eat is these Honey Roasted Apple Dippers. They couldn’t be more simple – just green apple slices, The Laughing Cow® Creamy Original Swiss cheese, honey roasted peanuts, and a drizzle of honey. But all together, they make the most delicious little bites. The apples are tart and crisp, the cheese is smooth and creamy, and the flavors are out of this world! Kind of a grown up version of caramel apples. A delicious way to reinvent snacking! Perfect for kids. Perfect for adults. Perfect for fall.

Jess says
Love this story about your little Greta! No rush Greta – even if it means piano practice before playtime! I LOVE LAUGHING COW! So, I will be trying this recipe soon!
Cathy Trochelman says
Thanks, Jess! Isn’t it fascinating how kids in the same family can be SO different from one another? Greta is a funny little one, that is for sure. And this recipe? You HAVE to try it!
Beth says
Awww Greta sounds so cute! Just remind her about having to work, paying the bills, and changing poopie diapers or cleaning the liter box.. that should solve it 🙂
Cathy Trochelman says
Haha – right, Beth?? She really seems stuck on getting to eat and drink whatever you want. And getting to watch as much TV as you want! Someday it will all be clear….. 😉
Dorothy @ Crazy for Crust says
Are you sure you’re not talking about Jordan? OMG the daily struggle. I feel you!! And these snacks. Perfection – I’d eat a whole pound of it. But that’s probably anti what I’m supposed to do,right? HA!
Cathy Trochelman says
The daily struggle – for real!! And these snacks? I would definitely say a pound of them is better than a pound of a lot of other things…..right? 😉
Kristine | Kristine's Kitchen says
If I had all of the ingredients for these, I’d be making them right now! Your photos just made me SO hungry! And I can totally empathize with your situation with Greta. I think my six year old feels the same way. 😉
Cathy Trochelman says
Awwww, thanks so much, Kristine! Maybe it’s an age thing….Greta just turned 7 and is NOT loving the responsibilities that come along with “growing up”. Which makes it even funnier that she thinks being an adult is so great!
Michelle @ Blackberry Babe says
My son would love these!
Cathy Trochelman says
My kids love them too, Michelle!
Nancy P.@thebittersideofsweet says
Ah kids! They are so fun sometimes right. When my kids think they want to be adults, I let them. Right about the time dinner should be cooked, clothes need to be washed, bathrooms need to be cleaned, groceries need to be bought they come around, simmer down and are happy kids again! 🙂
Cathy Trochelman says
Haha – I love it, Nancy! I’m pretty sure mine would have the same reaction!
Deb@+Cooking+on+the+Front+Burner says

Thanks, Jamie! I’m a sucker for anything savory & sweet so these are right up my alley!
marcie says
I went through the same thing with my youngest son — he says grown ups are so lucky! I said we have way more responsibilities and one day he’ll see. haha Eating as many of these as we want is a perk to being a grown-up — I know I wouldn’t be responsible with these around! 🙂
Cathy Trochelman says
This is so true, Marcie! Sometimes I wish someone would just cut me off and tell me “ENOUGH already!” But not when it’s something I really love, lol 😉
Rachael says
mmmmmm, this looks really yummy. I love the combo of sweet and savory.
