Delicious Citrus Sangria is made with just 4 simple ingredients and loaded with fresh citrus fruit. A perfectly refreshing cocktail any time of year!
We had a proud moment the other day. Greta came home from school with a certificate in hand….for reading! It turns out she had moved up two levels (skipping a level altogether) which, to a kid, feels kind of amazing. So amazing that as we were sitting on the couch later that night, she told me she REALLY wanted to celebrate.
To be honest, I think she just wanted an excuse (any excuse) for a celebration. And, to be honest, I can’t really blame her! The holidays are over, it’s C-O-L-D, and here in Wisconsin we’re settling in for the longest two months of the year. Heck, I’m looking for reasons to celebrate, too!
The good news? You can turn anything into a celebration if you want to…..AND……the Packers are still in the playoffs! Which is definitely cause for celebration. Almost as much cause as moving up two levels in reading!
Citrus Sangria
If you ask me, there’s no better way to celebrate than with a delicious pitcher of sangria. Especially when it’s as bright and refreshing as this one! I always tend to think of citrus as a summer flavor, but the truth is, it’s in season NOW! Which is perfect. Because….as we discussed….the holidays are over, it’s cold as heck, and we could all use a little reminder of summer (don’t you think?)
So naturally, I headed to Pick ‘n Save to pick up the ingredients….and couldn’t believe the enormous selection of citrus fruits! Everything from lemons and limes to pummelos and minneolas. I chose a few of my favorites, but the truth is, any or all of them would work in this recipe. And, since it was Greta’s idea to begin with…..I thought it would be nice to include her in the celebration by making a non-alcoholic version, too.
And you know what? I liked it just as much as the original. And she loved it too! Definitely celebration-worthy….for all the big and little things that need celebrating!

Hi Ree, Thank you! You can use any brand of lemonade, and La Croix makes a grapefruit flavored sparkling water. Hope this helps!
