If it were up to my kids, I’m pretty sure we’d be eating smoothies for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Seriously. They’re obsessed.
The good news, of course, is that they’re basically healthy. And easy. And no one ever complains about them.
And the other good news? There are as many flavor combos as your mind can imagine. I love that they can be creamy and dessert-like or fruity and refreshing. There really is a smoothie for every mood….and this Berry Lime version is one of my absolute favorites!
There’s something about the flavor combo that’s different. Unique. Exciting. It’s sweet and tart and oh so flavorful, and I love that it’s made with just 5 simple ingredients.
WHAT INGREDIENTS ARE IN THIS RECIPE?
- Greek yogurt
- Mixed berries (frozen or fresh)
- Orange juice
- Lime juice
- Honey
HOW DO YOU MAKE A BERRY LIME SMOOTHIE?
- In a blender, combine Greek yogurt, mixed berries, orange juice, lime juice, and honey.
- Blend on high until smooth.
- Pour into a glass.
- Enjoy!
WHAT KIND OF BERRIES DO YOU USE?
Any frozen berries will work, but a variety will add the best flavor to this Berry Lime Smoothie. For this recipe I used a combination of raspberries, blackberries, and blueberries. Other mixtures may contain strawberries or even cherries, both of which would be a delicious addition to this recipe.
WHAT KIND OF YOGURT DO YOU USE?
I always try to use Greek yogurt in smoothies for an extra boost of protein. For this recipe you could use plain, vanilla, or even honey flavored Greek yogurt. Each will create a slightly different flavor profile, but all would be equally delicious.
WHAT CAN YOU USE INSTEAD OF HONEY?
Good alternatives to honey are agave, sugar, or even simple syrup. Basically, anything that will add some sweetness to the smoothie to balance out the tartness of the berries and lime.
This recipe is perfect for breakfast, and my kids love it as an after school snack. It’s packed with flavor and so easy to make….and it makes great popsicles, too!
Whether you’re new to the smoothie game or just looking to expand your horizons, it’s sure to put a smile on everyone’s face. And you really can’t argue with that.
