Caramelized Figs with Whipped Brown Sugar Cinnamon Cream Cheese

Fresh Figs, caramelized in a mixture of brown sugar, cinnamon & vanilla and topped with sweetened whipped cream cheese.

Ingredients

  • 2 Tablespoons butter or coconut oil
  • 15 fresh figs
  • 3 1/2 Tablespoons brown sugar
  • 3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 ounces cream cheese

Instructions

  • Remove stems from figs; slice in half lengthwise
  • In a large skillet, heat 2 Tablespoons butter or coconut oil over medium heat until melted. Add 3 Tablespoons brown sugar, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon and heat until mixture begins to simmer.
  • Add the figs, cut-side down, and sauté for 3-4 minutes. Flip and sauté for an additional 3-4 minutes until caramelized. Remove from heat.
  • In a small bowl, whip softened cream cheese, 1/2 Tablespoon brown sugar, and 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon.
  • Top figs with cream cheese and a sprinkle of sea salt (optional).
