Sesame Ground Chicken

An easy twist on Sesame Chicken that's perfect for busy weeknights! This recipe starts with ground chicken and a sweet & savory sauce and is garnished with sesame seeds and sliced green onions. Delicious over rice or all on its own!

Ingredients

  • 1 Tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound ground chicken
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 3 Tablespoons honey
  • 1 Tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 Tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 Tablespoon chili garlic sauce
  • 1/2 Tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger grated
  • 3-4 green onions sliced
  • 2-3 teaspoons sesame seeds

Instructions

  • In a medium skillet, heat 1 Tablespoon olive oil over medium heat. Add the ground chicken and minced garlic and sauté 6-8 minutes or until chicken is crumbled and no longer pink.
  • Whisk the sauce ingredients together and pour over the chicken in the pan. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until sauce is thickened. Remove from heat.
  • Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds; serve over white rice or in in lettuce wraps.

Notes

Recipe Variations

  • Use chicken thighs or breasts instead of ground chicken
  • Add vegetables, such as broccoli, green beans, matchstick carrots, pea pods or bok choy
  • Substitute brown sugar for the honey
  • Substitute sriracha for the chili garlic sauce
  • Use arrowroot powder instead of cornstarch for thickening
  • Adjust the sauce ingredient amounts to taste
  • Serve in lettuce wraps

 

Storage & Reheating Tips

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days. To reheat, transfer to a small skillet and heat over medium heat until completely warmed through.
