Ingredients

  • 4 c. fresh blackberries
  • 2 Tbsp. lemon juice
  • 1 c. all purpose flour
  • 1 c. granulated sugar
  • 1/2 c. butter melted
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 tsp. turbinado sugar optional

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°.
  • Wash and drain blackberries; pour into an 8x8 inch square baking pan.
  • Pour lemon juice over blackberries in pan.
  • In a separate bowl, combine flour, granulated sugar, melted butter, and egg. Mix well.
  • Spoon mixture over blackberries.
  • Sprinkle with turbinado sugar (optional).
  • Bake at 375° 35-45 minutes, until filling is bubbling and top is golden brown.

Notes

Recipe variations:
  • Use a mixture of berries, including blackberries, blueberries, strawberries & raspberries
  • Omit lemon juice and add 1/2 tsp. cinnamon to cobbler mixture
  • Add 1/2 c. regular or white chocolate chips to the berries
  • Add 1/2 c. old fashioned oats to the cobbler mixture
  • Sprinkle 1/4 c. chopped nuts on top before baking
  • Substitute 1 tsp. vanilla extract for the lemon juice
  • Serve with fresh whipped cream
