Spiced Cran-Peary Compote

  • 4 large firm pears peeled & chopped
  • ½ cup fresh cranberries
  • 1 cup water
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • ½ tsp. vanilla
  • ½ tsp. cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp. ginger
  • ¼ tsp. allspice


  1. Combine water, sugar, vanilla & spices in a medium saucepan and bring to a boil.
  2. Boil, stirring occasionally, 5 minutes or until mixture begins to thicken.
  3. Add pears & cranberries and return to a boil.
  4. Reduce heat and simmer 20 minutes or until fruit is tender and mixture has thickened.
  5. Remove from heat. Mixture will continue to thicken as it cools.
  6. Use immediately over french toast, waffles, or oatmeal OR store in fridge until breakfast!
