Pretzels (recipe adapted from Sarah's Cucina Bella)
1package dry active yeast
1 1/2c.warm water
1Tbsp.brown sugar
4c.all purpose flour
1/2tsp.salt
1c.chocolate chipsI used Nestle semi-sweet
1egg
Dipping Sauce
1c.chocolate chips
1/2c.peanut butter
Instructions
Pretzels
Preheat oven to 425°F degrees. Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, combine the yeast and warm water. Let sit until the yeast dissolves (about 2-3 minutes).
Stir the brown sugar into the yeast mixture until dissolved.
Add the flour, salt, and chocolate chips. Stir to combine. Turn the dough out onto a floured board and knead with floured hands until smooth.
Beat the egg in a small bowl; set aside.
Divide the dough into 6 portions. Working with one at a time, roll the dough balls out into ropes that are about 1 inch in diameter. Use a sharp knife to cut 1-inch lengths of dough.
Drop each of the dough pieces into the egg mixture and immediately transfer to prepared baking sheets. Place them about 1/2 inch apart.
Bake for 8-10 minutes, until golden brown.
Dipping Sauce
Combine chocolate chips and peanut butter in a small saucepan.
Heat over low heat, stirring often, until completely melted.
